After so much research, and taking into consideration that I'm not too much into iPod hype, I've decided to get this Pioneer model, mostly because of the fact of the Bluetooth connectivity for phone calls, and because it has a USB and SD-card slot right on the front! Without an iPod, there is already plentiful of source material! The DVD drive, the USB memory stick, or the SD-card.
Because of the fact that I'm in the newsgathering business, the USB and SD port on the front is ideal to review still pictures, and listening to recorded interviews. Nowadays the USB memory stick is becoming smaller, so it is barely noticeable when I plug it in! Because it is installed in a 2008 Ford Edge, the stick doesn't protrude dangerously out! It's like the Ford Edge was manufactured for this stereo.
A tip: Nearly every SUV or CUV nowadays has the small antenna on the roof, which includes a small signal booster. So it is important to connect the Ford blue power-antenna cable to this receiver! I must honestly say, that now the DX stations are coming better than ever before! The Super-TunerIII by Pioneer should win an award for pulling in far away stations! Even a local FM station that was always the weakest one on the Ford stereo, now comes in clean and strong on this Pioneer! You must purchase a antenna adapter to use this receiver in a Ford. If you get the multiconnector and the mounting kit from Crutchfield, the installation is a breeze. But I did `salvage' the original Ford aluminum mounting-bracket to use this on the Pioneer, for a more sturdier installation.
The Bluetooth is fantastic! I use it only for calls and the phonebook, so didn't need the audiostreaming for Bluetooth. You can even adjust the mic-level so that the listener can hear you better. I've installed my microphone right on the steering wheel column! Away from any airconditioning vents, so that no air flow gets into it. I suggest you to READ the owners manual completely, even before getting the receiver out of the foam box! It has helped my a lot!
The most amazing part of this new stereo? It is the unbelievable sound that Pioneer produces even from the stock speakers! The pre-sets EQ will almost suit your need! Even the loudness setting has user selectable modes. Why didn't they invent this 10 years ago?
I used a $1,50 automotive relay to automatically bypass the parking brake requirement, for the enjoyment of my passengers of the video display. Where I live it isn't against the law, but check with your local authorities first.
It plays video from nearly every source. From the USB and SD-card, it only plays .avi and .divx files. What I like the most: I can play a source of audio (or even video), and use either the USB or the SD-card for a slide-show of JPEG pictures... I'm happy to have Pioneer once again riding with me in my car...

I recently had this unit installed and I really love it. With an optional kit I was able to keep my steering wheel controls. I wanted a unit that played well with iPod but that would also work with my Droid for phone functions. This unit is a winner in both respects.
As far as iPod is concerned, the navigation system is flawless. You can basically access everything on the screen just like you would on your iPod. It handles iPod videos well and will even display album art as it's playing music.
The Droid easily pairs with this unit for phone functions. It will not stream audio, but that's why I have an iPod. I was troubled at first when I paired this with my Droid and my phonebook didn't show up on the unit. You need to look for a notification on you Droid after it pairs and approve the sharing of your phonebook with the head unit. BTW...this only has to be done the first time. After that it pairs automatically and you have access to your phonebook.
My major complaint with this unit is the lack of a rear USB port. I had a cable run from the front of the unit back behind and into the glovebox where I store my iPod. Why Pioneer couldn't put one on the back is beyond me. I would have gladly spent an additional $20 for this and I suspect it would cost them much less to implement. One other annoyance is that when you use a data disk, SD card or USB drive, it shows the folder structure on the disk in random order. Seriously?!?!?! Why is it not alphabetical?
The sound from the unit is awesome and it has a high degree of customization. 3 different levels of loudness are a big plus. Customizable EQ is welcome.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the feature-to-price ratio and would recommend this unit within its limitations.

I live in the Amherst NY area (suburb of Buffalo). In my 2007 Accord, with my stock radio, I received about 25 stations. The SuperTuner IIID in my 3200 added almost 20 stations. Then, I addeed the HD Radio Unit which added another 4 stations. So I now get 48 FM stations in the Buffalo, NY area.
